A Message from the Community Manager

Hey everyone, this message might get a little mushy.

In alignment with the governor’s announcement of the plan to reopen Ohio, some of you will be returning to the building soon.

Although the hub will still be closed and we won’t be able to interact, it will still be so great to see you all again and smile and wave from my (actual) desk.

This experience has impacted everyone’s lives differently and I’ve been reflecting on how it has changed mine.

Have there been any unexpected positive outcomes of this crisis for you? What changes have you made to your life that you would like to keep once this has ended?

“And each one will emerge, in his own way, from that storm.”

I’ve linked a poem titled “We Are Not In The Same Boat” written by an anonymous author that beautifully highlights how this experience is different for everyone.

…told you this was going to get mushy. Love you, mean it.

Make Your Own Face Mask

With the return to work in mind (yay!!!), we want everyone to be as proactive as possible about keeping safe and staying healthy while in the building.

If you are interested in learning how to make your own face mask, I have linked an article with 3 different ways to DIY.

This guide covers how to make a face mask using a T-shirt, how to make a bandanna-style face mask and how to sew your own face mask.

Date Night

Pop Up Daiquiri Bar

My favorite part about going to Siesta Key is replacing calories burnt off by paddle boarding with a frozen beverage from the Daiquiri Deck.

Since I can’t do that right now, this Cincinnati version looks super fun and you will probably see me here Friday & Saturday night (but you might not recognize me with my mask on).

Click here to read Cincinnati Refined’s coverage of the Daiquiri + Snack Pop-Up Shop at the Lonely Pine Steakhouse in Pleasant Ridge.

*bonus points: they are serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic frozen drinks

Cincy Card Connection,
Round 2

Are you counting down the days until you can go to your favorite restaurant or shop? Do your future self a favor and purchase a gift card to use!

The Cincy Card Connection is back at it and, as of this morning, still have nearly $100,000 in matching funds left.

How the Cincy Card Connection Program Works:

Purchase a gift card from a downtown Cincy business of your choice listed on the page linked below

Submit your receipt and related info through their online submission form on the site

Receive a matching gift card to a surprise minority- or woman-owned business
*(100% match for purchases from retailers/service businesses. 50% match for purchases from bars/restaurants)

ONE purchase supports TWO businesses, and gives you a new experience at a different business!

My favorites on the list: Idlewild Woman, Zula, Court Street Lobster Bar, Sacred Beast, Elm & Iron, Frameshop, Little Mahatma, Gia and the Blooms and Wodka Bar.

Virtual Food Drive

The virtual food drive is a great way for the public to raise money so the Freestore Foodbank can continue to provide meals to those in need in Greater Cincinnati.

The Freestore distributes 900,000 lbs. of food to 270,000 people throughout the year.

Now, the need is even greater.

Today, donations made will be matched by P&G’s CEO.
