A Message from the Community Manager

Hello everyone, Kelly here, being productive in PJs.

Yes, my mug says, "Time To Drink Champagne And Dance On The Tables." Did anyone notice my last one???

Today would have been the day we gathered as both a Columbia Plaza and Cincinnati community to celebrate the Reds. This would have been the 101st annual Opening Day parade.

Let’s not be sad that we cannot participate this year, and instead look back on all of the fun we have had in the past. Enjoy these photos of the Best of Opening Day at Columbia Plaza!

Keep using the hashtags #CPvirtualhub #BeAtCP #PetsOfCP #ColumbiaPlazaCincy when posting on social media and check in on each other! We want to see pics of your new home office and coworkers.

I hope you like the newsletters being sent on Tuesdays and Thursdays with new resources to help keep your day filled with fun activities and useful information about programs that offer support.

Enjoy the sunshine and love you, mean it.

Cloudy with a Chance of Joy

This is my favorite TED talk. Ever. Change my mind.

“You don't need to plan an exotic trip to find creative inspiration, just look up,” says Gavin Pretor-Pinney, founder of the Cloud Appreciation Society.

This talk is filled with great one-liner reminders like “If you live with your head in the clouds every now and then, it helps you keep your feet on the ground” and “They [clouds] remind us the exotic can be found in the everyday.”

Super applicable to us right now. Do yourself a favor and allow yourself the indulgence of watching the entire video. Then go for a walk and enjoy the clouds.

BabbleDabbleDO

Have fun exploring this resource with the mission to foster connection through creativity!!

Ana Dziengel is a former architect and furniture designer that began BabbleDabbleDO in the hopes of instilling intense curiosity and a creative spirit in her kids. Although this site is structured to encourage parents and children to work together, EVERYONE can enjoy these activities.

I poked around the site and my two favorite creative-with-paper-and-marker projects are the flextangles and mini folded paper stars. Use the search tool (located to the right of the page under the giant pink circle) and look up these crafts! There are videos to help visual learners as well as step by step instructions.

You can hang the mini folded paper stars from the ceiling and enjoy a colorful, homemade planetarium. And the flextangles are like cootie catchers on steroids.

ENJOY!

WFH Playlists

Sometimes, I like to imagine what songs would be on the soundtrack of my life. And I love having music playing whenever I can; whether it is turned up to the max and I am singing my little heart out or playing quietly in the background while I complete some work, I’ve gotta have it.

Below you will find a comprehensive list of playlists on Spotify. They cover all the moods: from chill indie music to 50 great female voices to the best of the 80’s and 90’s to Latino caliente, you are bound to find one you love.

Although the list was originally published in 2017, the author regularly updates the post for relevance.

***You have a super power. Every time you enter a room, a song plays- and it is the same song for the rest of your life. What’s your song? Send me your answer!!!

I have two: There She Goes by The La’s (I like that version more than the original by Sixpence None The Richer) or the theme song to the 90’s beloved cartoon, Doug.

Virtual Museum Tours

Here’s a good way to get a little culture and education as we continue to be confined to our homes. Now, you get to go to the museum and never leave your couch!

I’ve been to a few of these IRL and am looking forward to exploring some new locations.

Let me know which ones you’ve actually be too or which one was your favorite via virtual tour.

Women of Cincy

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world,” ⠀
Margaret Mead.

Women of Cincy’s mission is to amplify the change-makers in our community, and there has never been a more crucial time to do just that.

Over the past month, they have seen an incredible number of helpers taking charge and supporting our amazing community.

They’ve compiled a list of resources addressing needs like employment, food access, child care, housing and healthcare in the hopes of helping folks find the support they need.
