Sustainability, It's a Lifestyle

The Nielsen Green Team has been working hard to focus on sustainability efforts for the company here locally as well as across the country.

In Cincinnati, Nielsen won the Top Transit-Friendly Destination award presented by Green Umbrella, which speaks to the company's commitment to sustainability.

Green Umbrella is our local sustainability organization dedicated to making the Greater Cincinnati area one of the top 10 most sustainable metro areas in the country by 2020. The organization is comprised of many local major nonprofits, business, governmental bodies/groups, and academic institutions.

A Transit Friendly Destination practices social and environmental responsibility by integrating transit into the organization’s culture and actively promotes transit ridership for employees, customers, and guests.

The award was presented to Nielsen at the recent Midwest Sustainability Summit with almost 300 attendees present including large corporations and businesses such as 5/3, P&G, Macy's, and more. Larry Falkin, the City of Cincinnati Sustainability Manager, gave an overview of the sustainable initiatives happening at Nielsen, such as--carpooling to work, many associates working from home on Friday, use of public transportation and also walking to work.

Mid August, Nielsen celebrated their achievement with a party in the lobby! They currently have the award (handmade from recycled glass!) on their 9th floor reception desk.
