Father’s Day contest winner, Anita Person!
Congratulations to our Father’s Day Contest winner, Anita, thank you to everyone who entered! Anita wrote a beautiful poem in memory of her father.
You taught us
So many words to say about you Daddy, trust,
Believe it or not one thing is you taught us.
You taught us how a man should love his wife,
That sometimes keeping quiet keeps the peace and no strife.
You taught us that if we were to ever marry,
To celebrate that bond on the anniversary.
You taught us going to work each day takes dedication,
That all the overtime work deserves a vacation.
You taught us it’s ok to budget and save money,
All that you saved can help you travel with your honey,
To be a mentor and minister to many of the truth,
You taught us bible stories like Boaz and Ruth.
You taught us to be strong and when we needed to be,
That girls could like football and things mechanically.
You taught us to fish and what baits to use,
How to use bobbles, lures, and hooks not to lose.
You taught us your swagger country buckles, hats of all styles,
That yes black folks do camp and drive RV’s for miles.
You taught us that you want to take care of us, up until the end,
That in paradise ones will see you again.
We love you.
