Together Apart- Crock'd Pottery Kit
The Crock’d DIY pottery kit was the first giveaway of our "Together Apart" series- a way to foster a sense of connectedness and inclusion within the Columbia Plaza community, even though we can't physically be together yet.
We invited the members of our community to unleash their inner ceramicist and sent a Crock’d DIY pottery kit to their home.
But that wasn’t all! I wanted to give us the chance to check out how everyone is doing, just like we do when we mix and mingle with each other and pose for pics at building events.
So here are some photos of participants of the first "Together Apart" activity.
The Crock’d kit came with everything: clay, carving tools, clay breakers (like ice breakers but cooler) and instructions.
Check out the creations our community members made as well as some memories they shared about the experience.
“Having fun with the Crock’d kit was a great way to spend a quiet afternoon with the whole family!”
“The icebreaker questions are thought provoking and I have learned a lot about my immediate family and new addition to our family (my daughter-in-law and my daughter’s BF).”
“Our favorite part was laughing about how deformed our bowls looked, re-starting, and being okay with that ☺”
“I started out trying to make a vase with no luck. This was harder than I thought. So Google helped with other ideas. I made a “desk dice set”. If it holds up this will make a fun “break” in the day or to play to decide who does what!”
“It [the kit] made for a fantastic evening project and really got me into the Halloween spirit! The skull on the left is a planter pot and the one on the right is a tealight topper. I can't wait to get these fired so I can decorate with them!”
“This was definitely way harder than it seems. I went in with high expectations bc I looked online for inspo and quickly realized I was not going to be able to make something aesthetically pleasing the first time around. But I still think what I made is incredible, bc I did it!”
“One of my friends and I started to do this on Halloween (hence her egg costume!) but it got cold out and we were trying to do it outside. Cold clay and cold hands do not mix. We are going to try to finish the other half of our clay this week! The kit actually came with a LOT of clay!”
I’m so happy to facilitate these moments for you and be Together, Apart.
